AWPSI – Multilingual Advocacy Booklet & Brochure Design

Scope: National advocacy publication, localized into four regional languages

The Challenge

The AWPSI had significant research findings, curriculum evaluations, and policy suggestions that supported the national advocacy effort of integrating peace education in Ethiopia’s educational system; however, these efforts were in research form, lacking a clear strategic visual approach that would be immediately useful to the relevant government officials, education officials, development partners, and other institutions involved in implementing peace education reforms.

This meant that for the advocacy initiative to go forward, the research needed to be visually engaging, strategically organized, and culturally appropriate.

Approach

Le'Hager provided the design and localization of a complete advocacy booklet and institutional brochure through all aspects of the production process:

Content structuring and editorial layout design – developing a reader-friendly format out of the research

Visual hierarchy and typography systems design – developing a consistent design system that is readable and credible

Infographic illustration of research information – visually illustrating the research information to make it more suitable for advocacy

Design in format for policymakers and institutions – designing the content to address the target audience

Alignment with the AWPSI brand and professional print production – making sure that the publications meet AWPSI standards in print

Translation and localization into Afan Oromo, Afar, Somali, and Tigrigna – translating and localizing to all four languages in a consistent way

Impact

The final publications have enhanced the communication and institutional strategy of AWPSI, while the localization into four languages expanded the impact of the peace education reform advocacy case.
